Harvest Bible Chapel, a local Marion church, celebrated its five-year anniversary this month.
“Very exciting, very humbling as well. We are just an average group of sinful people saved by God’s grace and very imperfect, but we are growing in Christ, and He’s changing our lives one day at a time,” said Taylor Frank, pastor of Harvest Bible Chapel.
Since its establishment in September 2021, Frank said the church has built its community around relational culture, expository preaching, and discipleship. Church services are held at East 450 North in Marion, with services at 8:45 a.m. and 10:30 a.m.
“I started two semesters ago. One thing I really like is the atmosphere in the church. It’s very like the church itself is really nice. The worship is really toned down, which I appreciate. And Pastor Taylor has a really direct and really informed and biblically based pastoral style, which I really appreciate as well,” said Alan Kolterman, a student at Indiana Wesleyan University.
Frank said the church also tries to be different with how they manage their programs and different ministries.
“Our church is characterized by expositional preaching in a relational environment, so it’s pretty unique for Grant County, I think,” Frank said.
“We congregate once a week, and then we’re in homes once a week. Outside of that, once a month, we have a prayer service. We go to the Grant County Jail and lead a worship service for the inmates there about once a month. We also have a once-a-month ladies’ Bible study, and then we have six local ministries we partner with as well: the Switch Up Youth for Christ Ministry in Van Buren, the Pregnancy Help Center of Marion, CASA of Grand County, Josiah White’s in Wabash, and Gospel Link Ministries, which is an international missions agency. And then we’re also involved with Care Portal as well, which is meeting the needs of families in our community that are referred to us by DCS workers,” Frank said.
“There’s good people, good preaching, strong biblical base,” Kolterman said.
“If you’re really hungry for just straight-up Bible preaching that goes book by book, chapter by chapter, verse by verse, not pulling any punches, not making any apologies, just God’s word kind of in your face, then Harvest might be a good option.” Pastor Frank said.
