Fortress Church of the Month: Maple Run Friends Church

By Claire Baker Sep 19, 2025

Maple Run Friends Church aims to study, serve and seek so that we may all bring honor and glory to God.

With the belief that God created everyone for a purpose, Maple Run Friends uses every opportunity to be the example of Christian fellowship and love.

Senior Pastor John Lenfestey said, “I think that’s the thing we’re most known for, which is, of course, what we want to be known for, as being servants of Jesus Christ, and telling people that not only are we friends, but we want them to be friends with Christ as well.”

Maple Run Friends is a Christian Quaker Church centered around Jesus Christ and strives to evangelize the world with His Gospel.

Lenfestey said Maple Run Friends Church is all about the word “serve,” and that in their community they want to serve Christ in all that they do in order to be the hands and feet of Christ wherever they go.

Associate Pastor John Key said, “It is not fancy, not flashy. In fact, we mess a lot of things up, but you’ll find a congregation that really cares about people, and we tend to find a lot of folks who maybe are marginalized.”

Maple Run Friends Church hosts many community and outreach events. They have gone on missions trips in Jamaica and Orlando, as well as hosted local community events at the church like the Friends Closet.

Church Member David McDivitt said, “The Friends Closet has clothing and household items that are donated to the church, and it’s all stuff for the community. There’s no cost, so it’s a great way to serve the neighborhood friends.”

Maple Run Friends invites everyone to attend a meeting at 10:30am on Sundays.
