A ribbon-cutting was held on Tuesday in Boston Hill Center to celebrate the opening of Art Alive with Alecia, a glass art resin studio in Downtown Marion.
Greater Grant County Chamber of Commerce provided the ribbon and offered support during the event.
“It’s going to be great as a community activity place. I can easily see that this would be something families would bond over. Church groups or mom and daughter nights would be a great opportunity as well,” Tory Buchan of Greater Grant County said.
Alecia Esarey, the owner and founder of Art Alive, recently moved here from Florida to be closer to family.
The opening of this new business marks Esarey’s transition from mobile events to a physical studio, where customers can come in and make beautiful creations in the heart of Marion.
Jumping into the business world, Esarey joined the Indiana Arts Commission Vision and Venture program, designed to help creative and artistic people who have started a business or are early in their business journey.
“Alecia is very friendly, so she would make you feel welcome and help you with anything you needed. I even think it would be good therapy for people with a tremor or a disability. It’s just something different for the community and a fun place to go,” Carol Malcolm, a community member present at the ribbon cutting said.
Art Alive with Alecia provides a new activity for people to engage with.
“Anybody can do this truly; it’s easy, and most people find it relaxing, and the outcome is something you would want to hang in your house. So just give it a try, it’s a hands-on experience that gets you out of your comfort zone a little bit, ” Esarey said.
